Handyman - Entry Level

  • Maintains the operation of entire building systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning machinery and component parts. Performs repairs to beds, nurse call systems, minor plumbing, carpentry and electrical. Performs preventive maintenance, maintains records for efficient operation of the physical plant. Operates and maintains the site


  • Follow direction/instruction of Lead handyman
  • Develop acumen for tool use, applications and understanding of job assessment
  • Assist lead handyman with tasks; offer solutions
  • Take lead for administrative tasks on Work Tickets (WTs)
  • Remind Lead about travel clock in/out
  • Complete PM Survey at start of WT
  • Check-off tasks at direction from Lead handyman
  • Take pictures before and after performing tasks
  • Attach pictures and applicable receipts to the WT, after consulting with Lead Handyman
  • Sign WT to mark complete, after consulting with Lead Handyman
  • Notify scheduler that WT is complete
  • Work with Dispatch Manager on development plan to improve skills
  • Working with repairs, patching prepping and painting of walls
  • Troubleshooting, replacing ballasts, light bulbs, power plugs
  • Working with plumbing, repair of leaking faucets, repair or replace toilets, unclog toilets.
  • Working with carpentry, repair of walls, rails, steps, doors and windows
  • Working with floors, remove and replace tile floor, remove and replace carpets
  • Working exterior of facility under hot temperatures
  • Working with pressure washer
  • Working with multiple hand and power tools


  • Ability to handle multiple projects and make decisions
  • Holds necessary/required licenses
  • Knowledge and understanding of blueprints
  • Strong customer service, communication and computer skills
  • Experience working in Hospital environment a plus
  • Knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning machinery and components
  • Must possess a sense of ownership and pride in one’s work along with a service-oriented approach
  • Able to work independently and take initiative when necessary as well as capable of working as a member of a team and in conjunction with other trades
  • Must observe and comply with all standard safety codes and practices, perform work in accordance with recognized trade and Encompass Onsite Services standards
  • Must be quality focused, customer service oriented and able to routinely communicate with peers and customers, clearly and professionally
  • Must possess a high degree of honesty and integrity
